There are several ways to request a Visa for business and investment purposes in Spain. Let’s go through the main features of each option for investors and entrepreneurs.
Residency Visas for Capital Investors (Visado de Residencia para Inversores de Capital – RIC)
In order to receive the Spanish Visa for Capital Investors, extra-UE applicants have to prove an investment in equal to or higher than 2 million Euros, issued in Spanish government bonds. As an alternative, the investment can be equal to or higher than 1 million Euros in shares in Spanish companies or deposits into Spanish financial institutions.
The applicant must have proof of the investment of the minimum amount required over a period not exceeding 60 days preceding the filing of the application, and guarantee the investment for at least 5 years.
Residency Visas for Acquisition of Real Estate (Visado de Residencia por Adquisición de Bienes Inmuebles – RIV)
Foreigners who can prove the acquisition of real estate in Spain with an investment value equal to or higher than 500,000 Euros may apply for this Visa.
The applicant must also prove the availability of an investment in real estate for the amount of 500,000 Euros, free of all charges or encumbrances.
Residency Visas for Entrepreneurs and Business Activities (Visado de Residencia para Emprendedores y Actividad Empresarial – REM)
This Visa is given to investors who present an entrepreneurial activity plan of general interest to be developed in Spain.
The applicant has to attach a positive report from the Spanish Commercial Office, demonstrating that the business plan which has been submitted is of general interest.
As for entrepreneurs, the business activity has to be innovative with a special focus on the Spanish economy and can rely on a positive report from the Commercial Office where the investor presents the Visa application.
